Orthopedic Conditions
As Physical Therapists we treat every joint in the body, from neck to big toe.
Joint pain
Our philosophy is that we must treat the whole body to effectively understand what is happening within a joint. We don’t just focus on the joint that presents with symptoms, which is the way insurance companies many times would like us to treat. We like to address the joints above and below and in some cases beyond that, in order to find the true root of the problem.
Pre and post operative rehabilitation
We provide physical therapy prior to surgery to help strengthen and improve joint mobility, which has been proven by evidence based research to be a key in improving post op outcomes. During the post op-rehab we provide manual therapy, joint mobilisations and we make sure to incorporate and help progress patient’s exercise programs to help them reach their maximum potential and their personal goals.
Neuralgia
Muscles and joints are there to protect the nervous system, therefore addressing the nervous system first can often lead to targeting the source of the problem, and expedite the rehabilitation process. This can be helpful for thoracic outlet syndrome, numbness and tingling, burning pain, sciatic nerve pain, trigeminal neuralgia, pudendal nerve pain, etc.
Visceral Mobilization
Did you know that musculoskeletal function can be hindered by lack of organ mobility? This is often the missing link in treating orthopedic conditions.
We are trained in assessing and treating the structural relationship (which are fascial and ligamentous attachments) between the organs and their musculoskeletal counterparts. Freeing up restrictions can improve organ function and restore mobility. This is a very helpful technique when dealing with conditions conditions such as low back pain, pelvic pain, shoulder pain, endometriosis, irritable bowel syndrome, after a motor vehicle accident etc.
Neural Manipulation
Neural Manipulation examines mechanical relationships between the cranium/spine hard frame to the dura and neural elements. It provides assessment and treatment approaches to address restrictions of the dural and neural components not commonly focused on with musculoskeletal symptoms. This can be helpful for headaches, migraines, neuralgias, concussions, car accidents, whiplash, falls, sport injuries, post stroke recovery, vagus nerve dysfunction, anxiety, etc.
